I had a doctor's appointment on Wednesday and Aaron and I both really like the new doctor. The appointment seemed pretty short. We just went over some dos and don’ts and what to expect in the coming months. She then did an exam and said everything seems good. We didn't get to listen to the heartbeat because she doesn't have an in-office ultrasound, but she said she would be more than happy to have us come back in two weeks when it would be stronger and listen to it using their baby heart Doppler monitor. I then had to get a couple vials of blood drawn and they were giving out H1N1 shots so she strongly advised that Aaron and I get one. I don't think Aaron was too happy and wasn't expecting that he would have to do anything. When the nurse asked if he was allergic to eggs he said, "Yeah, why, does that mean something?" Nice try, Aaron. I don't think you would have enjoyed that chili cheese omelet I made you the other night as much if you were allergic to eggs.
Our baby is now 22 - 30 mm and no longer has a tail - thank goodness. The whole tail thing made it seem like it was a sea monkey, now it is much more like a mini baby.
Adapted from www.babycenter.com:
The baby is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct.
